Help in identifying Mary's badge

Good morning,

I would be very grateful for help in identifying the badge worn on the attached photo by my Great-Aunt Mary.  From the address that she has written on the back, the photo was taken some time between 1914 and 1919, so I suppose that it has some connection with the war...

Well, it's a 'sweetheart brooch':  costume jewellery worn to show support of someone (usually a husband/fiance/boyfriend) serving in the Forces and showing the appropriate regimental crest, so I'd say your dating is spot-on.

I'm certain this is an Army regiment: no doubt someone will identify the regiment for you any moment now...

Hello Cati,

That is interesting!  She married in 1919, so I suppose the soldier in question was her boyfriend..... I don't know what regiment he served in, so hopefully, as you say, someone will identify it for me.

initial thoughts - Yeomanry, possibly 'sharpshooters' (County of London)....will have a root around..

Hi David

Thank you very much for your help....  The sweetheart in question would have been Henry (Harry) Sharp and he was a Londoner.  I have had a look on Ancestry for his war records, but there are lots of Harry/Henry Sharps ......

I am going to contact Mary's granddaughter to see if she has any information, but I don't think she knows a lot about her Grandfather.

Tend to agree with David, though the centre has me puzzled, could it be a figure 4? If it is it would be 4th Conty of London Yeomanry.
Henry then would be a "Sharpshooter"  tee hee..... get it?

ho ho ho ;D  I was hoping he was going to be a Sharp - Shooter!!

I've tried to make out what is in the centre of the badge, but I can't make it out at all......

Here's an example of a 4th County of London Sharpshooters sweetheart badge:  there do seem to be  similarities...
