World war 1 Death William Beswick
« on: Sunday 22 April 12 22:21 BST (UK) »
Hi

I am looking to see if I can trace the World War 1 Records of a William Beswick who it seems died World War 1, son of Joseph Beswick and Charlotte Rose

Apparantly he is recorded on the Hayfield (Glossop) War Memorial and I am trying to see if I can track anymore information.

There is a William Beswick recorded in Commonwealth War Graves in Manchester but this doesn't seem to be the one...

Any info on where to look would much appreciated

Thanks for your Help...

That is a big start   I went into the archives but I didn't have much joy....  seems like you have pay to see the records and I could only find one record with a Sergeant (staff) and then I wasn't sure if this is the corect one...  I am so used to the Aust nominal roll but what you have helped is invaluable...

Hi again Cheran, he has about 8 pages of his military records on Ancestry.co.uk. and lists father as J Beswick who seemed to move from Hadfield to Glossop. It was 87 Church St in Hadfield, and moved to 7 South Marlow Street according to the amendments. If you don't have Ancestry, maybe your local library could help, as they would in Nottinghamshire.

Hi Elzabels, there are two other addresses for Joseph on Williams war records, but he was a railway plate layer, so maybe moved around a lot, but seems strange it's the same town.
