Anne Maria Kelly
« on: Monday 23 April 12 08:25 BST (UK) »
Hi
I am trying to trace my husbands great grandmother who was born in Roscommon 1849. We believe she had siblings but do not know who they were and do not know the names of Anne's parents though we believe her father's name may have been James. She migrated to Australia in 1870's. Am looking for any info on Anne or who her family were and what they did at Roscommon.

Thanks

Diane

Hi Diane,

Ann Maria was born before civil registration so you would need a bit more information e.g. religion; parish or townland.

Here is something to look at:

Introduction to Irish Records

My Ancestor came from Ireland

There may also be something of help in the resources section of this forum.
It is difficult with a name like Kelly - there are quite a lot in Griffiths Valuation (abt 1850s)

best wishes
heywood

Hi
My husband has just reminded me she was of the Catholic religion. Does this help at all? He also believes they owned farming land somewhere by a river. I know pretty sketchy. I guess there are many rivers in Ireland.

Thanks

Diane
