Batterham family history
« on: Wednesday 25 April 12 16:01 BST (UK) »
Hi,
I'm looking for any information on the Batterhams, as I am a descendant. My mother was a Battterham b. in sheffield. Her father was Charles b. in Chesterfield in 1908. He had a sister b. 1902. Other family members are john william b. 1877, nathaniel b.1853, goerge b.1833 joseph b.1785 to name but a few. Many hailed originally from norfolk and left to go to yorkshire and derbyshire. If there are any batterhams at all, i'd be very happy to hear from you.

Hi

I too am interested in Batterhams.  I have a James Batterham, b. 1822 in Norfolk.  I also have Joseph Batterham b. 1854 and David Batterham, b.1855, both  born in Cambridgeshire.  Martha Batterham, my grandmother, b. 1885 in Middlesex.   Also a Joseph Batterham who would have been born sometime in the late 1700's but that is all the information I have on him.

Hi,
From what I understand all the Batterhams are somehow connected. However, it is a very large family. I do not have the exact Batterhams of the exact dates you have. Although I have a Joseph Batterham born in the late 1700's. Your branch of the family could be linked to a son or brother of  one of my Batterhams, even though I have many siblings listed there might be a few missing.
I have Joseph Batterham born mid 1700's and one in the late 1700's. I have an Eleanor Coe who was married to a Joseph Batterham. I have no siblings for this particular Joseph though. However I have children for a Joseph Batterham...Nathaniel 1807, Mary 1809, Clement Sutterby 1814, Joseph 1816, William 1818, Elizabeth 1820, George 1822 my great, great, great grandfather. Also Robert 1824, Elizabeth 1828 and Henry 1831.
Maybe these names ring a bell. Let me know and thank you for replying to my post.

www.freereg.org.uk certainly has Norfolk data, and, possibly importantly, a phonetic/soundex search option for surname variants.

Good day

I have only just joined rootschat and chanced on your postings from some time ago re Batterham family.

My paternal grandmother was Bertha Batterham who was a daughter of Nathaniel. Charles was her nephew and as a youngster was a great friend of my own father James . I met Charles  at family gatherings when I was a child. I have some photographs and lots of info re Batterhams that I would be more than happy to share.

Hope to hear from you...best wishes

Peter Taylor
