Hi

I notice from the 1891 census, that Charles Edwards, aged 63, born Chirk, occupation listed as boatman, is living with his wife Sarah, at Vron.

There is a baptism record for a Charles Edwards, baptised in the parish of Chirk on 7th September 1828, son of Edward & Elizabeth Edwards. The address is listed as Tenement, father's occupation is collier.

I realise that the father's occupation is not what you were looking for but the place of baptism and year of birth are worth giving it a closer look.

Regards

Trish

Hi

The 1871 has Charles (RG10/ 5682/112/12) born St Martins and Edward (RG10/5682/111/10) born Llangollen.
A birth in St Martins would fit with the course of the Ellesmere/Llangollen canal. However, although the St Martins records are on the IGI, there isn't one for Charles with a father Edward.  He could well have been baptised in any of the parishes along the route of the canal or it's branch down to Montgomeryshire. Alternatively, the family could have been non-conformist.

Lots of info about the canal if Googled.

I found a Charles Edwards, married, labourer, of right age in 1861, living with his brother-in-law Ishmael? and sister Hannah Lloyd, in Wern, Rhosllanerchrugog (Moreton Above)

Says born Whittington ca 1829

could be the Lloyd connection?

Many thanks everyone, you've spotted some things I overlooked.

As you can see a lot of the details of the established records seem to change every time, not only estimated dates of birth, but I've tried to focus on the consistent details. One of the birth records suggestioned might be correct, but it's very difficult to be sure, as the location and occupation of father Edward is different.

Just a suggestion - could Edward jnr and Charles be one and the same?

Sorry, I'm not sure what you mean here, could you explain?
