Any Advice - Annie Lyall
« on: Friday 04 May 12 09:23 BST (UK) »
Hi, I have found Annie Lyall in the 1911 census living in St. Pancras, is there anyway of finding out who she is with?  Also I cannont find any record of her death she was 81 at the time so I doubt that she went back to her home town of Caledon, Tyrone Ireland.  If anyone has any ideas I would love to hear them.

Thanks

The 1911 Census return should show everyone living at that address.   Have you seen a copy of the return ?

No I don't have access to it, but I know here maiden name is Lyall so I thought at that age she could be possibly living with relatives as her husband died in tyrone in 1905, there seem to be 2 Lyalls in Pancras in 1911 - Caleb Dickson Lyall and Alice Lyall, just trying to piece together the pieces to see if they could be related but Caleb seems difficult aswell although I have found his death.

I'm sorry, but the forum rules forbid lookups on the 1911 census, so I'm afraid you'll need to buy some credits  :)

As Nick has said we can't help with 1911.   Assistance is limited to what may be found in the FREE indexes.

Hi, I have found Annie Lyall in the 1911 census living in St. Pancras, is there anyway of finding out who she is with?

her home town of Caledon, Tyrone Ireland.

Via the free index to the 1911 I can only find one person aged 81, born Tyrone Caledon, and living in London, St Pancras, and her name is indexed as Annie Naye. Is this the person you are interested in?

If so you can easily find out who else is in the same household by using the 'other members of the household' search in the 'advanced search' on the 1911 website.

Go to http://www.1911census.co.uk/search/tnaform.aspx?4 and click on 'show advanced fields'

In 'Location' select London and St Pancras.

At the bottom of the form (other members of the household) enter Annie and Naye in the relevant places. Check 'exact name' in both cases. Put an asterisk in the Census reference section. Leave everything else blank.

The result will tell you who else is in the same household, but you will have to buy credits to get the information actually available on the original census form.

Hi, Thanks for the replies,  that's fine about look-ups just querying really,  thanks for the advice about other household members as that is what I wanted, but unfortunately it doesn't work as you actually need a forename and surname entered at the top and as I don't know them it proves difficult.

Thanks you for all the advice anyway.

Caleb seems to be indexed as Calet Dickson Lyall in 1911 and the free index on GR gives his birthplace (interestingly) as Kirkwall Hackney  :o  :o

In 1881 and 1891 Caleb is living In North Ronaldshay in the Orkney Islands and his birthplace is given as Orkney.
