marriage impediment
« on: Sunday 13 May 12 16:41 BST (UK) »
i have just found a Marriage cert on Lincs to the past for my hubbys 4x g grandfather. he was married on 6/6/1813 in sleaford.

the certs says " by banns with some impediment alleged"  !!

they were obviously still married but is there any way i can find out what the impediment was?? would it say on the banns - does anyone have access please?

To me it says

& no impediment - you are seeing part of the watermark as a letter. :)

I'd agree, "& no impediment alleged".  Diddy, can you see any other marriages on the same page?  Do any of the others have the same wording?

The position of the watermark depends on the level of zoom used.

The date appears to be the First day of June. :)
