1891 census - Byworth - COMPLETED WITH MANY THANKS TO CAROLEW
« on: Sunday 13 May 12 21:39 BST (UK) »
On 1881 census I have Richard Byworth aged 41 born Tuxford, Notts, wife Emma aged 30 born Holgate, York and Byworth children Annie aged 3 born York and Thomas aged 1 born York.  From 1901 census given to me on Rootschat, there is a son Richard aged 21, Thomas is 19, Frank 12, + 3 others (born York).  This family doesn't appear to have registered the birth of any of their children (or else I am dim (a distinct possibility!) and can't find them!!!).  Could someone please let me have details of 1891 census for the family showing who is older - Richard or Thomas?

With many thanks.

Zephyr

Hello CaroleW

Curiouser and curiouser!  Looks like Richard is older than Thomas although he isn't showing up on 1881 (not with family anyway).  Wonder if Thomas died and then the next son was also called Thomas.  I see there is also a son John who is not with family on 1901 and Mildred is 3 weeks (aged 10 on 1901).

Thank you for the census information on the family.  I guess the only way to find out the years of birth is to make a trip to York sometime and look at the parish records.

With grateful thanks for your help.

Kind regards.

Hi

Have you found any marriage for Richard & Emma as I can't see an obvious one?  If they didn't marry - the children's births may be registered under Emma's maiden name

Hello Carole

No, I have not found marriage.  I did have a look for Richard's birth under Cowton but no luck and I also tried Mildred (it being not too common a name) but nothing.  A very peculiar family!
