WESTON Co Kilkenny
« on: Wednesday 16 May 12 15:44 BST (UK) »
I wonder can anyone help with my search.

My relation married a Margaret Weston b.Co Kilkenny , in 1909,  in Wales. Margaret is in 1911 Census of Wales age 24, so born circa 1887, married Thomas Murphy 1909.
Also in the house is Margaret Westons brother Michael b. 1891 Co Kilkenny.
I checked the Ireland census 1901 and found a Margaret age 15yrs which would tie in, she was working as a Servant in Co Kilkenny with a farmer.
Father of Margaret Weston & Michael Weston I know to be James Weston who died in Wales in 1938 aged 85yrs.
Also tried for him in Irish Census the only James I could come up with was James in 1901 in Mucklone (Cappalough Queens Co) age 38 & married. Would appreciate any suggestions or help with my query.

possible births for Margaret and Michael ....might be worth trying certs for these to check parents names, place of birth etc :

  Name: Margaret Weston
  Registration district:   Waterford
  Event type: Birth
  Quarter and year: Jul-Sep 1887
  volume : 4 / Page : 673

  Name: Michael Weston
  Registration district:   Waterford
  Event type: Birth
  Quarter and year: Oct-Dec 1891
  Volume : 4 / Page: 642

Waterford registration district covers quite a large part of South Co. Kilkenny.

Hi 'ballydw'

Obviously this is Margaret on the 1901 census who you have already found:

http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Kilkenny/Killahy/Clonassy/1457258/

and I am presuming this is Michael:

http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Kilkenny/Killahy/Mullinavat_Town/1457317/

This is the James that you have found but he doesn't match any of your criteria, ie he is not from Kilkenny, he is not the correct age etc etc

http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Queen_s_Co_/Cappalough/Mucklone/1649892/

Can't say that I can see James in Ireland - is it possible that he was already in Wales in 1901 ?

Hi again Frances,

Just a few q's to help the search !

Do you know what the occupation was of Margaret & Michael's father James ?

You haven't mentioned Margaret & Michael's mother - was James supposed to be a widower in the 1901 census ?

If he was a widower - this is a possible death for their mother, but still early days 'til you get more leads !

Margaret Weston
Date Oct-Nov-Dec 1893 (age at death 42)
District Waterford

You can order all certs from GRO Roscommon - local offices use a different index.

see : Ordering Certs from GRO Roscommon

note -  the birth certs, and particularly that marriage, are just possibles at the moment, but do seem to be the best fit.

If these are all correct then there's a possible brother to Margaret and Micahel :

  name:   Thomas Weston
  registration district:   Waterford
  event type: Birth
  quarter and year: Jan-Mar 1883
  volume :   4 / page :   823
