Hi Carmela,

Only 2 ROSE baptisms in Great Haseley.

Elizabeth May Rose. bap. 13 Sept 1840.
Emma Rose. bap. 12 Feb 1843.

Both to Henry and Charlotte.  Occupation Butcher.    They are in Great Haseley in 1841 census.

As they're living in Pyrton in 1851/1861, he may have been baptised there or maybe Watlington. ???

Looking at OxFHS - Oxon marriage index (1538 - 1837), there is a marriage for Henry Rose and Charlotte Manners.   6 Aug 1832 @ Sonning, Berkshire.

Henry Rose was from Wheatley, Oxfordshire,  at the time of marriage.

Hi Steve,
Thanks for trying. I did not think there would be any trouble with this one, as I thought they were still living in Great Haseley in 1848. Perhaps they moved a little earlier than I thought and John was born just before the move.  He always gave Haseley as birth place on census returns.
The family moved to Clare Hill Farm, not far from Pyrton, so I now think that John may have been christened there, after the move.

Thanks again,
Carmela

Yes Carmela.  Being born somewhere, does not always mean they were baptized there. ;)

I have found this out for several of my rellies. :o
