Alexander Lamb/Margaret McConnell 1851 Waterside

Hi There

I was wondering if anyone can help me out.  I am hitting a brick wall right now.  The 1851 shows them living at 24 Waterside VIllage with son Adam and daughter Elizabeth.  Margaret died 6 years later aged 34 indicating DOB ass 1824.  By her death the family had moved from Waterside to High St, Ayr.  In 1851 Alexander was 37 indicating DOB 1814.

My brick wall is the marriage date, DOB's of both Alexander and Margaret.  I have searched Scotlands People and Family Tree, nothing is showing.

Any help, pointers, would be appreciated.

Per IGI - Adam was born 26.9.1848 so marriage between 1845-1848

As any marriage was pre-1855 parents names are unlikely to be included. You would be better looking for his death reg as that will give you his parents names

I see both children were with their McConnell grandparents in 1861.

I can't find Alexander in 1861 but he was still alive in 1871 b 1815 Maybole and living alone in Ayr

I have searched for death certificate information and out of 4 possibles in Scotland none match or come close.

Yes - so it looks like Alexander was working in Yorkshire in 1861 and as he is shown as Alexander H - it seems he could be the IGI entry you found.

What was his marital status in 1861
