STARR Family of Foxton
« on: Monday 28 May 12 07:13 BST (UK) »
Hi Everyone

I'm doing research into Charles and Jacob STARR.

Charles STARR arrived from England on the Washington Irving on the 27th of September 1857 (to Australia). On the list of immigrants it states that he was 20/22 years old was an agricultural labourer, his native place and county was Kent, he was a methodist who could both read and write. He was the son of John STARR and Ann LOKER Parents living in Foxton

*Note Charles’ birth is given as Cambridge/Cambridgeshire on two different certificates. One is his death certificate and the other is his son Charles’ birth certificate.

There was a brother of Charles Starr named JACOB that came out to Australia too( the same year as Charles I think) he died in Redfern NSW. in 1924.

I think that John and Ann may have been living in the Poorhouse at some stage.  Thanks for any information on the above family.  Kind regards Dianna

Hi Rosie many thanks for that, I've just found out that James also came Australia, so that makes 5 of the Siblings came out here.  I will have to find out when John and Ann died.  I would love to find one of the Starr descendants in Cambridge.  Wow.  Many thanks Dianna
