Hi there

Can you just clarify a few bits !

When was Thomas born ?

Are you sure you have posted in the correct county ie Carlow ?

Are you talking about Kylemore Abbey in Connemara ?

Are you talking about Addergoole in Mayo ?

I realize Kylemore Abby is in Galway which was Addergoole Farm
My g grandfather Thomas was born in 1830
He had 7 sons, one of which was my grandfather Ambrose Michael
He not only grew up there but helped build the castle.
Thomas  also had 3 daughters.
My grandmother Sabina Conneely met Ambrose  in Clifden
They both came to the United States in 1905
My mother Mary Agnes Eastwood was the oldest of five children born to
Ambrose and Sabina
I have visited the famine cabin she was born in on our cousins property
in Connemara Co.
I have more detailed records on some of the brothers.
And in contact with one relative in England too.

I would like to find out information on our gg grandfather and family.
I've noticed conflicting information when I google search recently.

Thank you for any help you may give me on this matter.

Margaret

Hi Margaret

Is this the family then - which would mean Thomas was born abt 1854 as opposed to 1830

http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Galway/Rinvyle/Dawrismore/1371057/

If it's the correct family - let me know and I will have a look for you to see what I can find !

Just one of two bits

Thomas Eastwood your great grandfather was aborn abt 1855

His parents appear to have been Thomas Francis Eastwood who married Maria Louisa Onge in 1854 in Galway

This is their marriage in case you want to order the cert.

Thomas Francis Eastwood
1854
Clifden
Volume: 3
Page: 648

Their marriage was in the newspaper

http://www.irelandoldnews.com/Cavan/1854/NOV.html

Him in Griffiths Valuation

I'm not sure what other info you are looking for as there appears to be a LOT on this family online !

Boy am I jealous of your family history, Kylemore Abbey on one side and a High Sherriff of Dublin on the other WOW !

I can not thank you enough for this information  I have been searching for 12 years to find out this information. Yes! you have found our family.
I strive for correct information and the dates just didn't line up. Having the wrong dates for our ggrandfather's birthday just didn't work for the dates on the ones given for his father's information.

I will be sure to pass this information on to all the Eastwood's in this part of the world. As well as on ancestery.com As well as family in England I have been in contact with.

I love genealogy and every time I learn more it's like Christmas morning for me.

Once I get all I can on the Eastwood family I will continue with our grandmother's family.
The name Connolly/Conneely has been spelled so many ways. It helps to have the address where she was born. Tawnabcun Cashel, Connemara Co, Galway

When I check on line you are right, there seems to be a lot of information. Finding the correct information is the hard part. I keep trying to look at the census but often hit a wall. I am still learning how to follow the leads. Keeping on the right trail is hard to do. I don't always know where to look.
Which makes hearing from you wonderful.

I do have some information on our grandfather Ambrose's siblings. Many died during the war.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. Your fantastic.

Ah stop Margaret, sure it's no problem at all !

Ambrose's brother's George & Bernard seem to have gone into the military and are showing on the 1911 British Census

your great grandfather married Mary Walsh from Mayo but I can't find their marriage yet !

I will just post these bits in case you haven't see them !

(all in Clifden)

Peter Hubert Eastwood b 1894 died 1897
Mary Elizabeth Eastwood b 1888
George Eastwood b 1883
Michael Ambrose Eastwood b 1884
Bernard Joseph Eastwood b 1885
Catherine Josephine Eastwood b 1887
William Henry Eastwood b 1890
John Patrick Eastwood b 1891
Florence Louisa Eastwood b 1896
Arthur Edward Eastwood b 1900

It appears that

Ambose your grandfather b 1884 Clifden
Thomas Eastwood your great grandfather b 1855 Clifden
Thomas Francis Eastwood your great great grandfather b abt 1825 unknown d unknown - married Maria Louise Ongar, daughter of Abel Onge of Hayestown House Dublin
Thomas Eastwood Senior your great great great grandfather b abt 1805 Kent died 1854 Galway

Please bear in mind this is just your tree as I see it from online, please double check though

Abel Onge is mentioned on this peerage report but no mention of Maria Louise though ???

http://thepeerage.com/p24853.htm

Going on the report of Abel that I sent you earlier

This appears to be his birth ie Abel, son of Abel

http://churchrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/details/5965d60220656

a sister

http://churchrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/details/2c22190221419

There are more Onge's on this link

If you need any more help just let me know.
