COMPLETED - Tanneries in Chesterfield?

I have been researching - on and off - one of my Great Uncle's military history. I had a better look at the forms yesterday and saw that his occupation was a Tannery Labourer prior to enlistment. Could anyone tell me if there were many tanneries in Chesterfield around in 1942 please?

Just to let you know - I contacted Clayton Leather and they told me they believe they were the only tannery operating in Chesterfield at the time and are sending me a booklet too - so thanks again for your help copperbeech because I now know just a little bit more about my Great Uncle :)

Thats very interesting as one of my Ancestors was a tanner in Chesterfield
WYATT, COX, STRATTON, all from south Derbyshire and the STS, LEI border Burns Fellows Gough Wilks from STS in particular Black Country and now heading into SOP
