These  dates  came  from Church  records  so it is possible  they  are  baptismal  dates,  not  birthdates.  But  they  are  close  .

According to the census of 1911 the Mahers and the St Johns were neighbours,Ann died,we were told during childbirth in March 1910,her husband Edmond along with his eldest son Richard emigrated to America around 1921,her two middle sons Patrick ( our grandpa) and Edmond jnr came to England, whilst the youngest son James stayedin Curraheenduff with his grandparents,James daughter Ann still resides in the bungalow next to the now derelict family house.Ann Maher (St John)is buried in the cemetry at i think Ballingarry, ive a photo of the headstone which also has  the name of Edmond and Patrick on it

.......whilst the youngest son James stayedin Curraheenduff with his grandparents........

This is probably the marriage of James to Catherine Gleeson in 1942. She was residing in the townland of Mardyke.

It's about 7km NE from Mardyke townland to Curraheenduff townland (close to R690)

Hello,

My great-grandmother was Ellen Maher. She was the daughter of Patrick Maher and Bridget Mullally. She was born in 1847 and lived in Ballinastick. I am also closely related to other Maher families in the Parish of Gortnahoe (Ballinastick was in the Parish of Gortnahoe),  One of the other families lived in Ballinunty. That is the family of Patrick Maher and Bridget Mulhall. I have confirmed this through DNA matching. I'm wondering if you and I are related? Have you taken a DNA test? Would you be willing to explore if we are related?

Ellen
