On a 1901 Os map there is an infectious diseases' hospital shown at approximately where Blower Green Crescent meets Tanfield Road where Dawson Bros timber now is. It was still shown in the nineteen thirties but had disappeared by 1939. On a couple of the aerial photos from "Britain from above" site it is to be seen behind the brick works. Other than that I cannot find any information regarding this hospital. Maybe a (very) local historian will be able to help?

Those who visit the "Britain from above" site (https://britainfromabove.org.uk) the following photo shows what I believe to be the Infectious Diseases Hospital: EPW046058 ENGLAND (1934). Top right-hand corner.
