The only clue is "Trent Bridge"
« on: Monday 04 June 12 16:40 BST (UK) »
Hi,

I have been going through some old photos, and this one has on the back "Trent Bridge 1942"

I wonder if anyone can tell me anything about it - or the people?

Thanks.

Could it be the management "Chairman etc" of the Nottinghamshire CCC? All the men look far too old for military service as I would expect.

Trent bridge is normal associated with cricket. Any connections? But definitely looks like some kind of board members thing. council building not far from Trent bridge  but I would expect some sort  chain or crest in pix.

Hi Helen,

I just have no clues.

My Gramps (where the pics came from) was a very keen cricketer in his time, and this photo obviously was relevant to him - but sadly I don't know why - and no chance of asking him now!

Best wishes,

Hi
I don't know whether Trent Bridge functioned as a cricket ground during the war, probably not as early as 1942.

I would think your best bet is to contact the Nottinghamshire C C . I'm sure they will have an archivist who may be able to help.

Did your grandfather have any connection with Boots. The photo could be the senior management team.

Hi Eric,

Ooh, contacting Nottingham CC is a brilliant idea - well done you!

I don't think he had any connections with Boots, but as a child to me he seemed to know everyone we ever met, so who knows! Maybe that too is worth looking into.

Thanks,
Best wishes,
