Gray Family Cardiff

I am researching my family tree as the grandson of Edwin Elsmore Gray of Cardiff. He was known as Ted to everyone and moved to Ely Cardiff where he lived with Grace my grandmother until his death in the 1990s. I want to trace back to my great grandfather who was also an Edwin I believe. I tried searching teh census and found that the family can be traced back to Birmingham but I am not sure why or how. Anyone who can help shed light please help!

can u explain what you mean by "tried searching the census and found that the family can be traced back to Birmingham" ?

what records have you found already?  do you have Edwins year of birth?  his parents names and marriage?  any census records ?  ;)

Edwin Elsmore Gray birth was registered in Cardiff in 1909.

The first census that Edwin appeared on is 1911 so you need to find him on there with his parents:

The only likely marriage I can see of another Edwin is in 1908 (December quarter) in Cardiff district, of a Willam Edwin Gray.
