Taff merthyr Mine employment records
« on: Saturday 21 May 05 20:17 BST (UK) »
Hi

Do'es anyone know if there are employment records for the Taff Merthyr Colliery, between 1891-1930.

I want to trace my great-grandfathers records if possiable. Philip Wilfred Lawson James started as a collier, then a engine stoker, later he became a winder.

Any help would be great

Cheers
Tim

Hi Tim,
Have you tried the Glamorgan Record Office?
You could phone them or search their catalogue
www.glamro.gov.uk
or what about the Merthyr or Dowlais library?
or this link is quite useful http://www.alangeorge.co.uk/old_merthyr.htm
or this one on mines
http://www.minersadvice.co.uk/index.htm
Hope that helps
