I ordered Richard's death cert and it gives a clue.
The informant is recorded as Step-Daughter J Wefer.
I assume this must be Joan.
Been looking online, but still no sign of anyone with this name.

Do you agree the Step-Daughter's surname is Wefer?  ???

AMENDED - removed S's full name.  Just remembered she was born in 1925, so might still be living.  Her husband as well.

I wonder if S was a War Bride??   Found a 1946 passenger list that suggests so.
