Weatherston - Baptism Help Please

Hi,

I was wondering if you someone can help find some baptisms. I am looking for baptisms for the following people:
1. Nichol (Nicholas) Weatherston.  b. abt 1817 Eccles, Scotland
2. Elspeth Tait. b. abt 1814 Eccles, Scotland.

Details I have for them:
- I have a marriage record for them from ScotlandsPeople.  They were married in 1835 in Stichell, Kelso, Scotland.
- I have them on the 1841 census in Kelso, 1851 census in Kelso and 1861 census in Linton, Roxburghshire after which I pick them up in Bamburgh, England.
- According to the census returns they have the following children: Ann (b.1836), Agnes (b. 1838), Isabell (b. 1839), Thomas (b. 1841), Elspeth (b. 1843), Henry (b. 1845), John (b.1848), William (b. 1851), Mary (b. 1853), Elizabeth (b. 1855), James (b. 1857) and Nicholas (b. 1858)

I have searched ScotlandsPeople, ancestry etc and cannot find any baptism records for either of them.  The marriage record I have doesn't provide parents names, so I am pretty much at a stand still.  If anyone can help, I would be grateful !

Parents: William Tait and Ann Aitchison, who were married 26 Aug. 1812 Eccles

Hi Victoria, the christening/birth Claire found for you is on Scotlandspeople. You are being too exact with your spellings, she is on as Elspath

You may get his occupation etc from the original and she had at least 3 sisters.

Hi Barbara

You are right !  Whilst I looked for variants on the surname (Tait, Tate, Tayte etc) I did not even consider looking for variants on her first name !!!  Strangely though I did look for Nichol and Nicholas for her husband !!!

Thank you for finding it for me, I will go onto Scotlands people and look her up

Just started new thread by accident while replying to you.  Sometimes I hit post and nothing happens, no idea why.

Take a look and see if you think it is Nichol

That Nichol isn't yours.  He is on the census at Lauder born Gordon with wife Isabella and son eldest son James.  Yours looks to have an eldest son Thomas and with second daughter being Agnes I would look for parents Thomas and Agnes having children in Eccles around the right time.  Nichol's baptism might have been missed in the records but he did have a James who could be a brother living with him in 1841 - that might help too.  Let me know how you get on.

Thanks Barbara - I am going to continue to search under every variant I can think of and see how I get one !  Definately a good start having Elspeth's parents names though !!!

Yes it is Victoria.  the naming patterns are a bit screwif but perhaps they had a William who died.  Ann certainly works for her mother. 

Just shout if you need any more help.
