I was in Co. Laois last month and went through quote a few records of the Justin families who were born, married and buried at the Lea Church.
I am now told that Hannah Justin, who married Richard Thompson emigrated to New Zealand and that Richard died there. I am not sure how I can find any New Zealand records. It could explain why they seen to have gone missing.

As far as I know NZ census returns only kept statistics, and no details on individuals... might be worth checking the New Zealand resources board here on RootsChat/ (Under 'Other Countries')

Just to advise that we have now linked the Thompson and Justin families, both from Clonanny, Laois. Have also found all their records in New Zealand. Richard Thompson & Hannah Justin were married Dublin in 1879. It is great when you break through a brick wall. Thank you all for your help.
