Not sure this is relevant, if not at least you can eliminate it from your research.

A Patrick Doyle of Butts Green Kilkenny married an Alice Kealy of same address on 15 August 1904.  His father was recorded as John Doyle, his mother as Mary Dunphy. Her father was recorded as James Kealy, her mother as Anastatia Cass.

Two children are recorded to this couple, Mary in 1905, John in 1906.

Do you reckon no 7 Harold's Cross is the row of shops that is beside Harold's Cross Bridge ?

My granny worked in the 'broken biscuit' shop there in the 1960's !

It could be him Tara, but equally there's no mention of the names Joseph or Cornelius, nor are they mentioned in this Patricks birth record which is recorded as being Goosehill on 17 July 1883 to father John Doyle and mother Mary Dunphy, with the baptism being 19 July 1883 in St. Canices, Co. Kilkenny. I'm not sure...

I know re the Joseph / Cornelious thing BUTTTT

Patrick was living in Goosehill on the 1911 census

Relations of his were in Goosehill on the 1901 census

Looks promising to me but sure we'll see what 'Grizzly' thinks !

Maybe if he speaks to his relations with these new finds and see do they 'ring any bells' !

i have to say that the patrick doyle as a 25 yr old widower with young son aged 4 called john known as jack gives me strong leanings towrds this been the right family, especailly moving between houses..oliver doyle 1901 in 17 then 10 yrs on patrick and son living there while others moved to no 7...its the way things were done back in the day in the tenements ..if your family member moved to larger accom and another member was "stuck" for accomadtion then they moved in. (squatted).im gussing he was widowed circa1910...

Just another possible find for you.....

Patrick had a daughter called Kathleen, but maybe this was her middle name ???

I have found what I think is a good possibility for her but with the name Mary

mary doyle 1911

Look where she was living...........................where her possible father ended up the following year !!!

Could this be the person who you were wondering looked after the young children ???

What do you think ?

Tara
tara that also looks very very promising, i knew there were skeltons in the cupboard, i remember my dad talking about a shop ..that there was some family conflict about..yes think you have done me a great service..thank you.

I know the 'accomodation' situation that you spoke of was most certainly what happened in the Dublin tenements with my family !

Glad to be of some help !

I managed to attached that pic of the shops on Harold's Cross Bridge to one of my earlier messages - if you look closely the bike shop is no. 7
