Yes

William Augustus Hobbs.

So, for others, this was his marriage to Annie Cregan in Limerick in 1922.

Timothy Hobbs, also of 14 Lough Road, Cork was his brother's witness.

....and your grandfather was a twin. Hannah also born in 1885.

Hi

Yes this is correct. William Hobbs married to Anna Cregan. They had two daughters Shelia and Monica (Mona)  (my mother) 3 sons Sean Eddie and Liam.

It must've have been very challenging times then as Tim Hobbs was interred in Cork jail for his involvement in an Active Service unit of the Anti Treaty side of the Civil War. My Grandmother Anna Cregans brother Eddie Cregan was a Commandant in the regular army and was killed in an ambush by an Anti Treaty Irregulars in 1922.

Dobwhite, was your grandmother known as Anastasia in her younger days?
Her sister Kathleen was the informant at her wedding.

Hi

Yes in her younger days.. My mum always called her Mater and her father Pater. I have very fond memories of her, as I would stay in Cork on Glasheen Road. Great sense of humor, and a very quick and sharp tongue at times.. Sharp card player I recall as she thought me how to play poker.

Thanks both of you for the new info.  I have not yet established a link, but the Lough Road may be instrumental.  See the previous information re. Lakewiew, etc.  Keep me in the picture.  Francis

Hi.

On my family tree on the Hobbs side I have a link to the Hobbs of Lough Rd and Samuel Hobbs Cork City Architect..

My Great-grandfather 5 generations was a Samuel Hobbs b.  ca.1760 who was married to Mary Sullivan at St Finbars Church 18th Aug 1791 . From what I have my GGfather 5 generation uncle was Samuel Hobbs Architect of Cork City.
