Parish registers held by Canterbury Cathedral archives now at FindmyPast (at the moment only browse).  Lovely!  Don't have subscription to FindmyPast?  You should get free access at your local LDS Family History Center via their FamilySearch Portal.

I feel a little confused by this because I went to Canterbury Archives to view their Parish Records  for Stone in Oxney and Wittersham but they aren't included in this collection.

Do you think they may be added at a later date?

According to here http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/a2a/records.aspx?cat=051-p399&cid=-1#-1 Wittersham PRs were transfered from Canterbury Archives to the Kent History Centre in 1988, this may be why they perhaps aren't included.

Thank you smudwick, that probably does explain things.

I did view the records for both Stone in Oxney and Wittersham at Canterbury last year but they were on microfiche.  It looks as though the original records were transferred after the microfiche had been filmed.

FindMyPast must be digitising the original records......which in this case are no longer at Canterbury  :'(

Disappointing for me but at least I know they will not be added any time soon

Best wishes HL

I'm not sure if FindMyPast are digitising the originals, however I believe if the archives doesn't hold the originals they aren't included in any digitisation program.  That was definately the case with the LMA and ancestry.

Thanks smudwhisk.  In any case it's good that they have put so many Kent records on FindMyPast although they do seem a little difficult to find at present.

Best wishes HL.

Hi

Probably a silly question but the signatures on the Parish Registers - would these be the original signatures of our ancestors or are these Parish Registers copies which were sent from the Church to Canterbury?

Thanks in anticipation ...
