Edward (Tuahina) Rangiuia,
« on: Saturday 30 June 12 09:48 BST (UK) »
Hi all

I am currently researching the life of Edward (Tuahina) Rangiuia, who was born in the Gisborne region of New Zealand in 1886.  He went on to became world famous as a singer, residing in England from 1904 until his death in Portsmouth 1918.  I have found a great deal about his life from the 1890s until around 1912, but gradually he appeared to retire from public life.  When he died in 1918 he seemed to have passed without comment which I find quite mystifying as he appeared to be incredibly famous just a few years before.  If anyone can help me with any information I would be enormously grateful

have you checked with any local libraries in the areas where he lived in england who may have local history on him also local portsmouth newspapers for the period of his death as there may have been an obituary on him , portsmouth library should know what is available.

Hi,

Thanks for the replies.  I should have mentioned I actually live in New Zealand, so using Portsmouth library is a bit of a no-go for me.

Cheers

Stuart
