Mr and Mrs Larkspur...

Many thanks for your help!
I also found in 1861 census these details, which I asumed were relevant to my searching....
John Antcliff - Servant - Unmarried - 16/18 yrs(this has line through making reading difficult) - Carter - b East Markham. Lived at no 29 East Drayton?

I have a very good Antcliffe tree, I will do some checking and get back to you on this.
Sarah A was born 28 June 1781 and baptised 9 July 1781 in East Markham. She was buried 16 Nov 1862 never having married. She was my 3rd cousin 5x removed!!

I have Antcliff/Antcliffe ancestors.  My g/grandmother was Jane Antcliff(e) of Gringley On The Hill,  born 1863, the daughter of James Antcliff(e) and Eliza Farr.  Are they connected to your Antcliffes?

Bruce/Jackson - Batley, Yorkshire
Cammack - Lincolnshire
Marriott - Lincolnshire/Nottinghamshire

I have not yet managed to connect my Antcliffes to the Gringley on the Hill branch. From what I know most of them come from Ellis and his wife Martha, Ellis was baptised in Eaton 28 Sep 1800 to John and Elizabeth Antcliff. Ellis and Martha had a son James baptised Gringley 25-12-1829. if you can tell me where John was baptised, I may be of more help. The only marriage possibility I can find for him is 18-9-1781 with a Elizabeth Webster in N Muskham.

My James Antcliff(e) was the son of  Ellis and Martha.  He married Eliza Farr on 15th May 1856 at St Peter and St Paul church, Gringley.  Their daughter, Jane, was my father's maternal great-grandmother.

Hi

Just jumping on the band wagon!

Has anyone come across John Antcliff bpt circa 1780 please?

As far as I know he married Elizabeth Haywood 9/11/1801 Heanor.  They baptised their children in Selston and John was buried at St. Martin's Alfreton 4/7/1838.

Hi Larkspur

Thanks for the info.  John of Edwinstowe certainly looks like a possible candidate, although i would have been happier if I had some Martha's in my tree, but sadly not.

What I think I have is
John Antcliff coal miner and Elizabeth Haywood mar 9/11/1801 Heanor
Children
Ann 1805 Selston
John 1807 Selston
Eleanor 1809 Selston
James 1811 Alfreton bur 1872 Pinxton
Robert 1814 Alfreton
Eliza 1821 Selston 'of Codnor Park' mar John Charlesworth bur 1874 Pinxton

Any chance you could let me have a few more details of John bpt 1780 Edwinstowe's parents, siblings, etc please in the hope that there might be some clues?

Very many thanks
Valerie
