Some birthdates for the children might make them easier to find in Canadian records- see www.familysearch.org

Moved around County Londonderry-
Martha Jane born 6 June 1864 Newtownlimavady district (page 923 in civil register)
Rebecca born 8 Apr.1867 Glendermot district
Robert born 13 Aug.1868 Kilderry
Anna born 7 JUly 1870 Kilderry
Hessy born 11 Apr.18671874 Coleraine district (page 596 in civil register).

Also one in Belfast area-
John born 28 May 1879 Belfast district
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!

That family unlikely to be the correct one. Son John Elder was born 1879 in Belfast not 1887 in Scotland.

Thanks JDC, this isn't my John Elder.
However I did find on familysearch a tree of Martha Jane Elder, that gave details of a Samuel Elder who died in Vancouver 1946 and a John Henry Elder who died in 1968 in Vancouver.
They must be some connection to my John and Annie Elder, who both died in Northern Ireland.
Martha Jane Elder was widowed before the 1901 census and on the 1911 census her sister Rebecca was living with her and 3 of her 4 children.
Her son John Campbell b 1887 wasn't on it and I'm wondering had he emigrated to Canada.
Thank you for your help, Betty

Having another go at finding members of the Elder family who moved to Canada from Limavady in Ireland.

Rebecca Elder born 20.8.1883 in Limavady married John Morrow from Limavady in Victoria 3.10.1907

Who did Rebecca travel with etc.

Any info would be much appreciated, Betty

Here's the link to view 1901 and 1911 Canadian census- www.automatedgenealogy.com

In Northern Ireland Ruby is often used as another form of Rebecca.
