James Van MARSTON

Looking for help on how I would find out who James Van Marston married in 1838 and on which ship they emmigrated  to New Zealand and when. I am new to all this but am getting abit lost.

Louisa FROST married Frederick WILKINSON... they are together on the 1841 Census.

Found the same Marr Index list but cannot find James with anyone in 1841

Thanks so much. Thats one thing ticked off. Now to find the ship they sailed on, of which I have no idea or when they came over to New Zealand. The information I have is from about the 1850's here in NZ.

Seems James V Marston, solicitor, had an office in West Queen Street as early as April 1848
(Papers Past - Daily Southern Cross)

I'm new to RootsChat. I thank those who have done the hard work and posted their information.

James Van Marston is my great-great-grandfather . He came to New Zealand about 1837-38. I am not familiar with the name Jane Jarvis. I heard that the lady he was with died aboard ship during childbirth.

As a solicitor, he established a conveyancing practice in Auckland.

In NZ, he "married" a Maori woman (links to Whakatohea and Opotiki). I am currently researching her actual name and details. Their six children were:
1. Emily, my Great-grandmother, was b. about 1852-3. She married 22 Dec 1877 to Alfred William Aylett. She died aged 106 years in 1958 in Auckland. 
2. Harriet (married Dormer)
3 & 4. Ann and Polly (twins)
5. James
6. Mary

James Vann Marston married Elizabeth Bishop (1864) in Auckland. She had two children.

James Vann Marston died 1875 in Auckland aged 58 years.
