Finding Location of an Abbey - Solved!

It might be 'Tintton'.

There are lots of Google references to Tinton Abbey - most of them in gedcom files!

There's a Tinton Abbey in the Puget Sound area, by the looks of it: see this article

Hi Debbie,

The same thing happened to me.   I should try and scan the picture and post it with the tracing to see if that will help, but Tintton seems to be in the lead sofar as the closest.

Sorry Debbie - should have explained that I Googled for "Tinton Abbey" - it may however be an alternative spelling for tintern in some of the sites listed.

Its certainly intriguing!

You say the picture is in ruins. As you suggest, if you can take a photo or scan the picture and post it, that should help. Abbeys are usually quite distinct and someone should be able to recognise the location.

Just a thought.

Ok, after searching through my house and not finding it, (I just have a copy) and then phoning my Aunt in another Province to have a cousing go and take a picture with a digital camera and emailing it to me......here it is

Here's a picture I found of Tintern Abbey.  To me, it looks pretty similar, but I of course what it to be, and sometimes the eyes play tricks on you.  What does anyone else think?   This watercolour painting was done somewhere between 1901 and 1909.

You know what is the funniest thing about this painting.  My aunt who has the original was at Tintern Abbey two years ago as part of her holiday!  I told her to be more aware her surroundings next time she goes away!!   LOL
