Germany: Name spelling help Stoecker

Hi there

I'm trying to get back a little further with my ancestor George John Stoecker I know the name spellings change sometimes between Europe and here but I don't know what to look for in the case of George, John, or variations on Stoecker.

The info I have on him is he was born
4 Aug 1836 in Welzheim, Rems-Murr-Kreis, Baden-Wuerttemberg, Germany

Immigrated approx 1857

To Iowa where her later married Catharine Mettler from Switzerland.

Jörg, Joerg, Georg, etc. => George
Johann, Johannes, Hanns, Hans, Hannes, etc.  => John

Stöcker => Stoecker


Just a few variants :)

Just googled his name and found his obituary:

Whilst looking through An'cy, I saw records of his living in Elgin, Illinois but wasn't sure I had found the correct J G Stocker.

No worries, Swiss Gill thank you so much for looking though. It is him, but where I and other family members doing research get stuck on is his parents as none of us speak enough German to really look through their records. I can kinda stumble my way through..sort of between the little German I know and Google Translate so I'm trying to see what I can find.
