Earthenware dealer Bridget MORAN
« on: Sunday 15 July 12 19:13 BST (UK) »
Hi, I was wondering whether anyone knew of a family of earthenware dealers called MORAN. Originally from Ireland, my great grandmother, Bridget MORAN died of TB in Birkenhead in about 1876. I understand the occupation could be typical of gypsy family and wondered if anyone had any thoughts on this or had heard of the Moran family in the North West of England or North Wales. Thanks

Streetprice; The Moran's are my friends and neighbours here. There's no Gypsy connection amongst them.

Glancing at the 'evidence'? Far more likely ye Great Gran' just got out, during the bad times. Washed up in Liverpool and never went much further.

Any idea which county, in Eire, she actually originated from? And when she left?  Just curious  :)

CURTIS (Portsmouth & 1800's Berkshire).
BURGE (Dorset, Somerset and Hampshire)
HUNTLEY (Dorset, Hampshire, Sussex, 'Surroundings')

Do you know if she had a baby before she died

Baby Bridget lily Moran b Oct 1875 was adopted by Hatton  family of Birkenhead

She may have been named after her grandmother .
DNA descendant has lots of Irish matches

One possible mother is Bridget moran b 1 mar 1857

Hi, My Great Gran on my Dad's Mum's side was Annie Moran (Polly).  Or Annie Burns Moran.  Born Southport 16 Jan 1881.
