Is anyone able to look at Earls Barton baptisms for c1876 please?

1881 census my g-g-grandparents John and Charlotte SUTTON are at Knox Street in Wellingborough and have a 4 year old grand-daughter Jane BIRCH born Earls Barton in the household. She's still with them in 1891 and appears to marry George Henry WHITNEY in W'boro district June Q 1900.

The Suttons had moved from EB to W'boro between 1871 and 1881 and are in EB prior to that.

I haven't so far found a suitable marriage of a Sutton girl to a Mr Birch and think I can account for all of John and Charlotte's daughters on earlier and later censuses so I'm trying to work out whose daughter Jane Birch is and hope a baptism might at least show a given name for her mother.

There's a birth registered for Jane in W'boro district 1876 but as she's only a side branch on my tree (I'm descended from John and Charlotte's son George) I'm not yet keen enough to buy a copy of her birth cert although I may subsequently do so.

Many thanks for any help with identifying Jane.

Hi,

There is an online public tree with Jane Birch c1877, parents Thomas Ingram Birch and Pearce Sutton.
Thomas died 1878 and Pearce died 1878.

I haven't checked these details as yet but it's a start point  :)

This tree shows that Thomas and Pearce married 31 July 1874, All Saints Parish Church, Earls Barton.

Marriage from FreeBMD -

Thomas Ingram Birch q3 1874, Wellingbro' Vol 3b 215 (only 3 people shown)
Pearce Sutton q3 1874, Wellingbro' Vol 3b 315

So the above marriage looks correct.

Hi.

The burial of Pearce Birch was at Earls Barton P.C.

Pg. 81, No. 643
April 8th 1878, of Earls Barton, aged 29.

I can not see one for Thomas in the Burials.

Thanks very much for all that - makes sense now.

I knew that Pearce died young but hadn't sussed that she had married Mr Birch.

Methinks I may be buying a death cert to find out why Mr and Mrs Birch died in the same quarter.

Hi again.

It is a shame there is no headstone for them.

The marriage details are noted here.

Thanks for that.

I've realised where I went wrong - useful lesson - with working out who Jane's mother was.

My father had noted all the Sutton children's baptisms in the EB PRs many years ago but hadn't noted that Pearce/Pearcy was a girl, not a boy with an unusual spelling of the given name Percy, so when I originally saw Pearcy indicated as a daughter on the 1851 census I'd assumed it was an enumerators transcribing error. I hadn't checked later censuses to note that she was consistently female and so hadn't looked for her as a possible wife of a Mr Birch.

Thanks again.
