Greatgrandfather Help please >>>COMPLETE<<<
« on: Tuesday 24 May 05 01:16 BST (UK) »
I have this wonderful photo of my greatgrandfather on his fortieth birthday. Can it be enhanced? I will try as a beginner but I'm sure you experts will do a much better job.

Can it be enhanced?

Yep.

First off, if you have broardband, I suggest you forget the two programes you have and go to this lik and download the demo. http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshopelwin/main.html The reason will be obvious when we get started.

May I suggest that you rescan just the photo without the framed exterior at a higher resolution, That way we can have a good look at what is going on with the photo.

Hi Jane, we need to do a little tutorial on scanning and saving.

First of all,  when you scan your photo, do a preview scan. The software that came  with your scanner should have a  menu or a button that says preview. After you have done a preview scan, you can then select the area of intrest to scan and the scanner will ignore the rest. St your resolution to 300Kb.

You should now have a scanned photo that is nice and big. Now with that Ultimate paint program, open the file and go to File/Save As You should get a window open that allow you to reduce the file size. see below.

You can reduce the file size quite considerably but the downside is you reduce the quality.

Hi Folks

I think the frame needs to be kept as it has important information on it which is lost when frame is removed. Who apart from Jane would know in the future who he was?

I have cleaned up the frame, and placed deadants (brill) colour picture into it.

This picture now works for me.

Regards
