GRO certs by post
« on: Wednesday 18 July 12 23:41 BST (UK) »
I haven't been able to find anything on their sites to help, so before getting into slow motion e:mail exchange with them, does anyone know if I can send request forms for a dozen different certificates by post with a single cheque or do I have to send a separate cheque with each application form?

Thanks,

Kapirin (Siberia 19th Century),

Mary Howse born 1806 ish,

You would need a British Bank Account to pay by cheque. Ordering over the Internet is the easiest way of ordering Certificates now - as Craclyn states. One credit card payment for multiple certificates. However let us know who you are looking for and we may be able to help you before you have to order any certificates!

If you have a credit \ debit card much better to use that and do it over the internet.

http://www.gro.gov.uk

as that why you will get the certificates much quicker ie no waiting time for your letter to get to Stockport, for them to scan and allocate it and cash the cheque
James Stott c1775-1850. James was born in Yorkshire but where? He was a stonemason and married Elizabeth Archer (nee Nicholson) in 1794 at Ripon. They lived thereafter in Masham. If anyone has any suggestions or leads as to his birthplace I would be interested to know. I have searched for it for years without success. Thank you.

Hi

You could just ring them up and ask them, you can then ask any follow up questions

Hi Peter

English & Welsh Marriage certificates only have fathers name and occupation, they don''t have information about mothers.

This might be of help

John Anshaw Burkitt age 23 and Lucy Walters age 21 married 25th Dec 1886 St Clements Church, Notting Hill

Fathers  Richard Anshaw Burkitt, decorator and Carl Walters, cabinet maker

The surname could be Wolters but I'm not certain

Andy

Death certificates this early don't give date of birth but this could help.  :)
