'Dublin Police Court' records.
« on: Sunday 22 July 12 00:50 BST (UK) »
Hi all.
Anyone know if records from a court case at the 'Dublin Police Court' would be available anywhere. Case was held in Oct 1916.
Have found a few newspaper articles about the case, so am sure of trial dates etc. Would be particularly interested in a transcription if it exists. Have tried usual googling but no result.
thanks

Have you tried contacting the Courts Service in Smithfield to see if they can help?  Might be able to get it under FOI but since it's 96 yrs ago that may not apply!

The Police Court would be like a modern Magistrates Court or District Court.  Justice was rattled out fairly quickly, and the only long term written records kept tended to be details of the accused, the offence, the verdict and penalty. No transcripts were kept of evidence given etc.
