« on: Friday 27 July 12 17:32 BST (UK) »
Davidson Strathearn b c 1833 East Lothian son of Robert and Margaret King.

He married Jane Anderson in 1859 and they lived in the East Lothian area.

On 1891 census  I found him in Partick Lanarkshire living at
 26 Bank Street , Hillhead , Govan

he is aged 59 a widower his occupation given as shop man -- restaurant
living with him are his son Robert aged 31 unmarried and a grocer
and his daughter  Catherine also unmarried  aged 24 a general servant.

I have been unable to find a death for him on SP
Thanks for any help.

SP only shows 3 matches to his christian name with a birthyear 1833 plus or minus 2yrs.  I did not use his surname to search as it could be mis-spelt and I only searched between 1891-1901

Have you already discounted  those entries?

There is no match to Davidson Strathearn

Hi Carole,
You learn something new everday I never thought of just putting only his first name in SP
.
I tried putting in Davidson year of birth 1833 plus or minus 5  between the years of 1891

when he I last found him on census and 1933 when he would have been 100 .

Voila there he was died in 1922 aged 92.

Thanks for your help much appreciated.

Was he a tea dealer later in life? There's a chap of that name boarding in Scotstoun St. Renfrew in 1911 with a birthplace of Pencaitland, Haddingtonshire...

Edited: Oops, see you got your answer, I must have posted over the top of the previous poster!
