Hello

I wonder if some kind person could look up a Hull Holy Trinity baptism sometime in the near future..?
Its for the year 1845 for an Elizabeth Smith, mother Harriet. I've researched her siblings and Elizabeth is child number 3 of 6.

Tried to order a birth certificate several times to no avail. Hoping for a baptism instead....

Dear C

I went back to the Treasure House today, this time with a clear mind! I've been through the baptisms for 1845 and 1846 and cannot find this one.  They are perfectly legible in the main, so I don't think it's slipped by me.  Really sorry.

Hello,

What a shame there's no baptism!

But thanks so much for taking the time & effort to check for me, will set this thread to "completed" now.

Hi Carmella
Just seen your message about baptism for Elizabeth SMITH of Hull.
Last week I bought the birth certificate of her sister Harriet b 1851 (the only child I could be sure of).  If you're still interested in this family, I can let you know what's on it.

Hello,

Yes I'm still interested! Would like to hear about the birth certificate for Harriet!

Sorry for not replying sooner - only just seen this message.
I normally get email alerts when there's a new message but this one must have slipped through.

Hi again Carmella

Here's the gen on Harriet:

When & where born:  8 May 1850, 8 Queens Square Terlls [can't read this] Square Humber Street Hull
Name:  Harriet
Father:  John SMITH, occupation Labourer
Mother:  Harriet SMITH late BARNES formerly BROMLEY
Informant:  Mark of mother, same address
When registered:  15 June 1850

I'm guessing you might already know this, because you have BROMLEY in your list of names!

I am descended from Catherine and George Thomas STOKES, but I can't find a birth for Catherine (or George but that's another story). There is only one Harriet SMITH registered Hull who would fit the 10 month baby on 1851 census, so I got that certificate.

There is a Robert Bromley BARNES b Mar 1839 Caistor Reg Dist who would fit, and this site has mother Harriet's first marriage and her siblings [I know nothing of how reliable it is]:

Can't find a marriage of Harriet to John SMITH though ...

Thanks that's great!
Yes I've not been able to find a marriage for John Smith & Harriet Bromley/Barnes - it's why I was interested to see how the mother described herself on the birth certificate of her last child.

Will write you an email later in the week!

Cheers,
C
