Rents in the mid 1800’s
« on: Wednesday 01 August 12 06:52 BST (UK) »
I have just discovered that an ancestor of my wife’s had some properties, houses, with rateable values of £12 to £52 per annum.

I have this information from the City of Sydney archives, on line.

Could any one give me an idea of how I might find out what the rent he could charge would be?

You could look at the advertisements of properties for rent in newspapers of the time in Trove newspapers.
