William Wiggin
« on: Monday 06 August 12 17:25 BST (UK) »
Hi everyone,
I am trying to find the date of birth/baptism and parentage of William Wiggin born circa 1823. He married Emma Sargant in October 1844 (West Bromwich), but I cannot find him in 1851 (his wife and family are shown as living with her mother in Bloxwich). The 1861 census (Walsall) gives his place of birth as Ireland circa 1825 and the 1871 census (Rushall, Staffs.) gives it as Lichfield Staffs. circa 1821. He died JAS 1877, Walsall (age 59).
Any suggestions gratefully received.

Possible for William on 1841 in Walsall Foreign (sub reg district Bloxwich) - enumerated as Wigan on his own aged 18. His occupation is a little unclear, but he may be with George Peabottom [?] a tailor. Ref is HO107, piece 983, folio 14, page 21

Phewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
I think that you've cracked it.
I must sit down and quietly digest your findings, but on a superficial glance the logic seems there.
Thank you so much Suz and Mabel. I really appreciate your efforts. I had a feeling that the ennumerator got carried away with Ireland as the place of birth as there were other Irish births on the same page in the 1861 census entry.
Thank you so much for achieving in a short space of time what I failed to do.
