Travi family research
« on: Tuesday 07 August 12 15:00 BST (UK) »
???I have been searching for my grandfathers Birth for some time now and not been able to get his Birth Cert. he first appears in 1881.
Father Francesco Travi,occ wire worker
mother Sarah Travi
Francis Travi (my grandfather) age 4
Charles Travi                           age 2 (also no birth cert found)

Sarah and Francisco did not marry until 1882 and l have everything from 1881.
but while still searching for my Francis l came across a Baptism in London. (grandad was born Clerkenwell) as follows.
Francis Franchesto
22.10.1876
Father Francis Franchesco
occ. Wire Worker.
Mother Matilda Franchesco
Clerkenwell St Johns.

l cannot find anything  on the Franchesco Name on any search.
So have the registra made a mistake in the surname.
if it was matildas maiden name would they put the father on.

Se what l mean about straws .
any ideas please .

There is also some info about this family on this thread http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,597397.0.html

So we don't all go looking for whatever has already been found  ;D

Brick walls for Travi
« Reply #3 on: Thursday 12 October 17 13:43 BST (UK) »
l have been researching my Travi family for many years now and came across a few brickwalls but managed to breakthrough, except to find my grandfathers and his brothers birth both born before their parents marriage, l went to clerkenwell council and they let me with an assistant look through original births for the date of both but no luck, they also informed me that some of Clerkenwell was under Islington so l contacted Islington with all my information but they would not let me search the files but a instructed a man to do it for me he came back that there was no record for my ancestor under his name on the index we knew this already that is why we wanted to search for any body with the name of Francis born on that day on the original but they said that could not be done, so once again the file was closed until Steve 62 said he would research in Italy for me l gave him all my information but again he came back with nothing, that was 18 months ago but in September this year an email from Steve62 to inform me he had my Gt Grandfathers Baptism which also gave me his parents names so l have now gone another 3 generations back but l think now the file must close for good. l just wish l could find my grandfathers and his brothers birth to complete my tree.l would like to thank Steve and others that have help me over the years.

Nice to hear a  brick wall has been broken through, never give up, I have one of my own just disappeared from the face of the earth never to be seen again, as I have said many many times I am sure the 1921 census will find him, I just hope so

Is it worth a chance to put your grandfathers sibling on here now?

Happy Hunting

Okay, thanks for that Chempat.  I'll cease looking as it has been done by others.  No point in going over old ground.
