« on: Saturday 11 August 12 12:49 BST (UK) »
Help pleads another brick wall with this family,

Philip Marks b1883 Russia, bachelor, tailor, living at the time of his marriage 123 Tudor Street, Cardiff, father Moris Marks boot and shoe maker.  Married at Edward Place Synagogue, Cardiff

I also have a copy of the 1911 census where he is living at 112 Albany Road, Cardiff with his wife Tilly Mendelsohn.  Philip died 1 December at Llandach Hospital, Penarth, 4 months after his wife.  Administration of his estate to his daughter Freda Feldman and sisters husband Hyman Levinson.

I have been unable to find any other information on Philip.

Many thanks.

Sorry Cardiff, DOB 1883 from 1911 census, and year of death Dec 1943
.  Got over excited, feel I am on homeward stretch now, nearly all bricks in the wall!

Why would he be in Llandough Hospital when he lived in Cardiff, any ideas please?

Do not have death certificate but his son died there too in 1992!!

Still dont think if I had it would bring us closer to his origins, what do you think?

Hi
I cannot see him earlier, I do not think getting his death certificate would give you anymore info, I assume you have looked at tilly's side there may have been a connection with the family and a sort of arranged marriage the families knowing each other.
You may have to look at his russian side!
I am sure someone knows how to do that , and or his Jewish info may well be better, not sure how to get that sort of info
So calling anyone that does
cheers cardiff :)

Thank you Cardiff

I have exhausted those lovely RC's with this family and done poor old Tilly to death (so to speak).

We have managed to find everyone now except Philip Marks, have even started to look outside the box and tried Markovitch!!

This Jewish search has been centralised on Cardiff, Merthyr, and Aberanam,  the other common element is that all the families have come from Russia, beyond the Pale, they made Wales their home.

In case anyone still following if these people left Russia in 1890's pogroms you may find nationalization documents or alien registration cards south Glamorgan records office found a detailed one for my great grandfather from 1916 which had a photo and previous addresses.

Or you could try synagogue records .The MARKS name could be total chosen surname and unlike the original surname.
