He is with them in 1851 as well, your William is in Birmingham then   :(

Still no William bn c1839 but - I might be clutching at straws but he has named one of his children Peter, perhaps after his father.  :-\

Hi Rosie
aww I thought it was a long shot too :( I have the christening from Ancestry as this is my only subscription and think it is likely that this is the correct John, with Elizabeth and Peter being the parents.  But William sure is elusive, I am going on the 1851 census that says William was born Bedfordshire too. It is a puzzle though  :-\

Familysearch  (free to search)  https://familysearch.org/#start  supposedly has most of Bedfordshire on it so is quite good.  Having said that I have unsolved mysteries in Keysoe as well  ;)
