Hello,
It has just occurred to me that this request may be better placed in the Durham look up requests !
Can anyone confirm for me that Barningham would have been under the Durham Diocese in 1767 ? If so, would the records also be held in Yorkshire ?

Many thanks,

Kabeja.

Hello Pels,
Thank you for taking the time and making the effort to reply with the link. I have also received an email from the current Reverend at Barningham and he has advised me that all their archive material is held at the Durham Record Office. I will now also post a look up request on that board.
Many thanks and best regards.

Hi

I am not sure if it helps but in the Barningham Local History Group publication "Barningham Brides 1581-1950" I can see the marriage listed as follows:

Quote
1767.05.28  CLARK John (yeo Gainforth)   HOLMES Jane (Hall Green TP) [lic]

yeo : Yeoman
TP : (of this parish)
lic : by licence

Hope this helps

Best regards
Kevin

Hello Kevin,
It does indeed help.  That appears to be the marriage i was looking for and with that John being from Gainforth (should be Gainford, Durham) that confirms for me that it is the person i was looking for as does the detail of John being a Yeoman.
Thank you so much for the time and effort you spent on looking that up for me, i really appreciate it and i'm very grateful.
Many thanks,

Kabeja.

No problem, I have the Barningham Baptisms 1801-1950 if you need any lookups from it too. I have McDonald descendants from Barningham, but mostly they relocated to Barnard Castle in the mid 1800's

Best regards
