Help needed please - Morris-Shoesmith
« on: Thursday 16 August 12 19:19 BST (UK) »
Hi,
I'm trying to find the details of Richard Morris and his wife Elizabeth (Nee Shoesmith).  They lived in the Crowhurst area of Sussex.  We believe he died sometime in 1853 and his wife about 10 years later.  Any information that anyone has would be most gratefully received.
Many many thanks.

Hello,
Yes we believe this is the right family. I have managed to stumble on the 1861 census as well.  Obviously Richard has died and Elizabeth is living with her son Aaron and his wife. At the moment I am trying to track Elizabeth Shoesmith and her family. Unfortunately we have been unable to find anything about them.
Thank you so much for your information.

Hello MargP,

WOW what a frantic few hours I've had.  With the help I have had, I now have details of the 1841, 1851 (thanks Isobellruss) and 1861 Census.

The children are now in place, (thanks to you)....I am descended from Sophia their eldest daughter, who married Benjamin Smith.

I think Richard died 1Q 1853 (no burial details or exact date of death).
I think Elizabeth died just after the 1861 census.

I have not been able to find Elizabeth's birth or baptism but I believe it to be c1784 or where she came from.

I really appreciate the help you have provided.
Thank you.  ;D

Good morning Mini

I hope you don't mind, but I would remove, completed, I am still working on this and have some more tenuous information  which I will post later.

Hello Omega,

Thank you so much for these burials.  I hadn't been able to find these.  The pieces of the jigsaw are all fitting together now although a few are still missing.
You are an absolute darling and I really appreciate the work you have been putting into this.
I actually live on the continent so I'm very limited to the information available and it is because of the wonderful people on Rootschat that I have progressed so well.
Again many thanks.

Hello Marg,

So sorry about that.........I have amended the title and taken off **COMPLETED**.  I realise I was a bit too quick at doing this.  I felt like I was going round in circles last night and felt I wouldn't find any more information.  BUT, I have been proved wrong......thanks to you and Omega.  As you may have read above I live on the continent and sometimes find research a little bit frustrating.
Thank you so much again.....you are a gem.
