Thank you so much for the info Omega.  I don't have hundreds of ancestors from that area but it may well be that looking into a  membership at the Sussex Family History group is an option as I have the names of Richards parents and a marriage at the moment which I would like to pursue.

You are all very generous with your knowledge and expertise that you so willingly share and for that I thank you.

Kind Regards

Thank you Omega,  I have just managed to find the marriage of William Morris to Mary Summers 14 July 1765 at Crowhurst but no info on their parents.  If you have a spare moment and you could see if there is any other information supplied, I would be very grateful.
Many thanks once again.

Hi Sarah

There several tree's on Ancestry doing the same research, with conflicting information and without any back up evidence,  I have chosen the one  that as some back up evidence, but other things are incorrect.

Elizabeth Shoesmith bpt 24 April 1784 Battle East Sussex

Mother Elizabeth Fuller bpt 27 May 1752 Bexhill Sussex
Father Edward Shoesmith bpt 1750-1801 Bexhill
Marriage 4 April 1774 Bexhill

Other children for Edward and Elizabeth
Joseph 1779
Sarah 1782
Thomas 1787
William 1789
Stephen 1793
Mary 1795

There is lots more information on this tree, but I just posted the basics,  to see what you think,I am off for the weekend later today and will catch up when I get back

I forgot to add that she is married to Richard Morris on this tree with all there children, if this is correct, you have hit the jackpot on Elizabeth Shoesmith

Enjoy

Hi Sarah

All this as to be verified, perhaps Omega may be able to help with this, but there is a lot of information about the children of Elizabeth Shoesmith and Richard Morris, which I will post next week, unless anyone else wants to come in here, the tree name is Salmon tree 20091112, what makes me think that this may be right, is that they have an actual bpt date for Elizabeth, and the name Stephen one of Eilzabeth's brothers, they also have the same marriage for William Morris to Mary Summers.

Marg x

It sounds very promising Marg .  Also very complicated........I'm not sure how to verify as birth certificates hadn't been introduced at this point.  I will study all the details that you have sent me over the weekend and get digging.
Thank you again for all your hard work.
