"LARBRITT" name on 1871 census
« on: Tuesday 21 August 12 01:29 BST (UK) »
Can anyone confirm that the following name transcribed as "Larbritt" on the 1871 census could instead by "Garbutt".

There is listed:

Sarah born 1822
Emily born 1852
Mary Ann born 1859

I am trying to see where the three are on 1861 census and having no luck.

Thank you.

I t looks like Larbritt Sarah is a Laundress and Emily is a Milkgirl and Mary Ann a scholar. All born at Hoxton Middlesex. Do you have them on other census and were where they born. Take Care Lynette

The transcription appears to be correct.  There is a tree on Anc** that thinks that the 1871 Larbritt entry  is their Sarah Garbutt.  They don't appear to have found her in 1861.

THis appears to be Mary's birth and marriage.

Births Dec 1858

Garbet  Mary Ann    Pancras ref 1b 58

~~~~~~~~
Marriages Dec 1877
COOK  Edward    Islington ref 1b 665
Garbett  Mary Ann     Islington ref 1b 665
Or perhaps not  :-[
She seems to be the daughter of Frederick and Catherine,and by 1871 is with a step dad called George Gordon.
Thank you for responding.  I needed extra eyes to verify since I cannot find "Larbritt" on any other census, which lead me to believe the surname was transcribed incorrectly.
