How to unlink from a thread?

Wow, what a lot of replies!  I do not opt for email notifications, so it looks as if I shall have to ignore the new replies option.

You do this when your question has been answered to your satisfaction, but it is still possible to reply to 'completed' posts. Locking a topic ensures that no one can reply to it.


However .... that is not what the original poster here is asking about.

As the OP, it is not my own topics I am thinking of, but others', where I have chipped in with a suggestion, but then have no more to say.

In general we advise against locking "completed" request topics: it sometimes happens that a "completed" topic is suddenly re-opened because someone found the topic in a search machine and discovered that they were related .... or at least had some new info. to add.

Then to Notifications and Email
check the boxes against the threads you no longer wish to be notified of
then press unsubscribe

these threads will then no longer show up in your unread posts

Just to repeat was has already been said:

You can choose whether or not you want to receive e-mail notifications.

You cannot remove yourself or be removed from the

- Show unread posts since last visit. list or
- Show new replies to your posts. list.

your posts on the threads can't be removed but you can remove the thread from showing up in new replies to your posts and being notified ... which is what I thought the question was ? ? ? 

*I did it myself when I got fed up with loads and loads of olympic stuff.   The threads still showed in unread posts since last visit but no longer in replies to my posts

No, the question was only about the list of unread posts.

Once I have made a post on a thread, all later posts by others cause it to appear in the list of unread posts when I re-enter.
