Missing Birth Record
« on: Thursday 23 August 12 12:00 BST (UK) »
My grandparents had 3 children two of whom I can find births for:
Peggy P Betts (mother's maiden name Wray) born in Basford in 1918
Max W Betts   (-------------------"----------------) born Chichester 1922
Basil Aubrey Betts (-------------"-----------------) who I can't find a birth for.  Any ideas please?

Is it possible that he was born elsewhere.....not in England or Wales.

Or maybe even adopted by the family?

I can see his death but not his birth.  He was definitely no adopted but may have been abroad.  How can I find out?

thanks for looking.  My grandfather was in the army.  My Dad (Max William) was born at chichester barracks in 1922.  Basil was born up to 5 years later.  His father was Alfred Ernest C Betts and his mother Elsie Maud Wray.

Maybe with all the travelling about they never actually got round to getting him registered?

His death cert should show where he was born as long as the informant knew him well enough to know the answer to that question.
