Do you mean 1891, George? Thought we might have young Peter in 1881 under the surname of Mellon in Partick.

Hi,

Downloaded Margaret Mallon's BC, 12th Feb 1873, it gives parent's wedding as 24th February 1872 at Partick. James occupation was Shipbuilder's Labourer. Looked at SP, and guess what, I cannot find marriage, tried m*ll*n to get various shades of mallon but no luck.

Big storm over at last here - phew!

Seems to have cleared the air a bit and, searching again, I found this birth entry https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/FQPN-PVC

I think this might be the Patrick we had living with mother Margaret and James Mellon/Mallon in 1881 and 1891.

And this one? https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/FQPD-145

Certainly Patrick's 1864 BC would show date and place of marriage...and we know how useful that was with the James Mallon marriage  ::)

;D Now this does look promising too! From 1861:

Partick Kean 25, Hammerman b. Ireland*
Margaret Kean 26 b. Ireland
Mary Kean 3 b. Partick
Bridget Kean 2 b. Partick
Anthony Davey 33, lodger with his family, Ship Carlden (?spl) Labourer b. Ireland
Ann Davey 29
Margaret Davey 2
Michael Davey 6 Months
Address: 11 Castlebank St, Partick Govan

* Fits well with Peter's 1894 MC mention of the occupation of Hammerman for Patrick - leaving aside the issue of his mother Margaret 'subsequently' having married him  :-\

Daughter Bridget's birth entry is here https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/FQHZ-YG6

Struggling with daughter Mary's unless it is this one https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/FQ9Y-S8Q and Margaret is down as Elizabeth in error?

Trying to trace this family for you Tom in 1871 (given it has been so hard so far  :-\) but we seem to have more names now to look for.

There is an 11 year old Bridget (showing on the transcript Brides) KANE b. Patrick in 1871 at the Catholic Orphanage for Females, at 72 Abercromby Street Glasglow in Calton (this Orphanage came up in a post not very long ago, www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,609519.0.html  There are no specific RC records remaining or now available).

Mary, likely sister we had is also there I think. A Mary KANE, aged 13, and born in Patrick is also showing there for 1871  :-\

Also, found this in 1881:

Bridget Kean 63, b. Ireland
John Kean 19, grandson, rivetter, b. Partick
Address: 1 Well Street, Partick

I eventually got the correct one, under Patrick Kean, parents married in Galway 1854, Margaret Kean nee Riley, cannot write and probably cannot spell either, hence all different spellings in documents.

Hi All,

After an early night in bed, felt refreshed this morning, certainly seem to be thinking better. I have now found birth certificate for Peter Toole alias Reilly alias Mallon etc. His mother is Margaret Toole, a paper mill worker from 9 Castlebank Street, which is suspiciously similar to Margaret Kean/Mallon nee Reilly.
